To Participate or Observe?
At
any special event, those involved in its planning
must
decide whether
to enjoy participating
in the fun
and
action or to hang back,
observe and try to capture
the
fun on film.
I
have found that it is very difficult to do both. I
seldom
take
pictures at my own parties. My
preference is to
participate
and bury myself
in the atmosphere of the
moment. Besides, the person
behind the camera
never gets
in any of the photos!
I
have been photographing other peoples' special
events
for
35 years - professionally and,
often, just for the fun
of
it. I enjoy the challenge
of capturing the actions, the
the expressions and the spirit that all come together
to
make someone's event special. My outsider's
eye
brings a unique viewpoint to
bear on any event's
moments,
faces and smiles.
