Tag from Vienna!
Since
our last update, we've been to Rome, Athens, the village of Meglachori
on Santorini island, Venice, Bled (Slovenia) and now we're in
Vienna for 5 days. Oh zeah, the z and y are switched on German
kezboards, so bear with me!!
I
had a birthday a few dazs ago. It felt strange not celebrating
with the Dallas gang. I miss you all. So, V indulged the homesick
Birthday Queen with a pleasant rowboat ride around the lake at
Bled. He rowed and sweated; I wore a shady hat, sat in the comfy
boat seat, and felt much better.
I've
decided to give zou all a break from our narrative updates and
compose some easy-to-scan, “USA Today” info chunks.
NOTABLE
SIGHTS/SOUNDS/SMELLS:
1.
Three little donkeys walking around and around in a circle
threshing wheat (Santorini).
2.
Nuns on vespas, monks on subways - both in full-length,
old style habits (Rome).
3.
Enterprising theatre students dressed as gladiators
posing with tourists outside the Colloseum
- for a
“tip” of course.
4.
Sunset with classical music plazing in the background
(Franco's bar, Santorini).
5.
Cowbells, acres of wildflowers, fresh alpine air,
pine needle scents (Gimmelwald, Switzerland).
6.
Men and women cutting hay (and their lawns) with
scythes (Gimmelwald and Bled, Slovenia).
7.
Centuries-old energy (which can only be called faith)
which permeates the atmosphere in many
cathedrals.
